Being a college student can be a wonderful experience. You are able to make new friends, have amazing experiences and learn skills that can help you start a future career. Unfortunately, college life isn’t always about having fun and learning new skills and education. Many college students deal with massive amounts of debt and home-sickness issues that can leave them feeling depressed. Many college kids also have a hard time keeping themselves healthy and active because of the amount of schoolwork they need to get done on a daily basis.

Whether you’re dealing with depression, student loan debt or are having trouble keeping healthy because of a hectic schedule, it is important for you to get help when and where you need it. There are many school counselors on campus who can help you out with any and all of these issues. Even financial issues can be dealt with when you are struggling with loan debt or credit card payments. Getting help for these common obstacles and struggles can be great because it will help you to focus more on what you are actually in college to do, and that is to learn and create a career for your future self.

When you first arrive at college, it is easy to become overwhelmed. This is especially true if you are attending a large college or university. One of the best ways to not feel so alone is by connecting with others. You can build a community by finding others who share your interests and values.
Many college students enjoy finding camaraderie at sororities. There are many different sororities, and each one has a different personality, structure and goals. Most schools have “Rush Week,” “Greek Week” or something similar to allow new students to learn about the various sororities.
If you cannot find a sorority that meets your needs and interests, consider starting your own! Your group will probably not reach official sorority status in the first few years, but that does not mean that you cannot form friendships and develop a mission statement.
Keep in mind that you will want to do something to make your new sorority stand out from the rest. Perhaps you can offer a more generous acceptance policy or unique service opportunities for members. Once you have decided the focus of your sorority, get the word out by placing flyers around campus and advertising on free social media sites.

Joining a Greek sorority or fraternity helps new college students adjust to college life on campus. These organizations offer opportunities to participate in many social activities, belong to a group, and get away from the stress of attending classes and studying.

Interaction with officers and members of a Greek sorority or fraternity provides many opportunities to develop the social skills needed to communicate with other people. They will have more opportunities to make new friends and belong to a group.I was looking for more information and found it here.

Enhanced social skills helps college students increase self-confidence. Sorority sisters or fraternity brothers offer support and encouragement to other group members experiencing problems with campus life. Examples are living away from home or dealing with professors.

Sororities and fraternities expect members to comply with established rules and maintain high grades. These rules teach members self-discipline. Breaking a rule could result in severe disciplinary action.

Greek organizations encourage members to work on a project that will help the sorority or fraternity and the college community. Major campus involvement may take the form of performing a community service, cleaning areas of the campus, building and posting information on bulletin boards or other projects that will add value to the college campus community.

Whether you are a freshman who has never lived away from home before or you are a non-traditional student who hasn’t been in a classroom in years, the first week of college can be a little fraught.

First, remember that it is okay to be overwhelmed. Your life has changed, so take it easy on yourself. Take advantage of the dining hall meals, and make sure that you are staying grounded by talking to the people who are important to you.

Depending on the size of your campus, you can generally expect to get a little lost. If the campus is very large, you almost certainly will. Carry a map around with you and consult it when you need to. It is better to be seen with a map than to be late to class.

Another thing to expect during your first week of college is that you might get a little sick. Suddenly, you are surrounded by new people. Make sure that you get plenty of rest and good food to shore up your immune system.

College is a challenge, but it is also a joy. Pace yourself, and remember why you are there. This can keep you on track!

Attending college is very different from attending high school. You will have much more freedom in college, but your newfound freedom comes with much more responsibility.

In college, your instructors will not care if you attend class or choose to sleep in. You have paid for the class, if you do not attend; you have wasted your money. When you are in class, you cannot distract other students. Everyone else in the class has also paid to be there, they will not appreciate any distractions.

College students are expected to manage their time effectively. You set your own schedule and you are responsible for taking the classes needed to graduate on time. If you do not fulfill the graduation requirements, you simply do not graduate.

You are responsible for buying your own textbooks in college. These can be very expensive. It will be up to you to look for used textbooks online or at the college bookstore if you cannot afford a new textbook. You are also responsible for any study materials and supplies you will need in class.

Learn to manage your time, set long-term goals and prioritize before heading off to college. It is up to you to make the most of your investment in a college education.

The “freshman fifteen” may be legendary, but it is possible to go to college and maintain a healthy body weight. Here are some tips to help you stay svelte and still enjoy college life.

The Cafeteria
People may joke about how bad “dorm food” is, but many campus dining halls offer a broad variety of foods at every meal, so overeating is easy. Dining halls often serve meals buffet style, which means all of the junk foods you desire are right at your finger tips. Make sensible choices at the cafeteria– be careful to control your portion sizes, choose low-calorie, sensible foods, and remember that you do not need dessert with every meal.

Parties
One of the easiest ways to gain weight in college is by failing to watching your alcohol intake. Beers average 100 to 300 Calories per 12 ounce bottle, while mixed drinks can pack up to 500 Calories per serving. Drink in moderation to watch your waistline, and avoid snacking while you drink.

Exercise
College offers many unique opportunities to make exercise a part of your life. Your student fees most likely entitle you to use your school’s recreation facilities, and intramural sports offer you the chance to play a sport you love or try something new. If the gym isn’t your thing, try walking to class and avoiding the elevator.
